Shropshire FA appoint new CEO

Shropshire FA is delighted to announce that Andy Weston has been appointed as the County’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Shropshire FA is delighted to announce that Andy Weston has been appointed as the County’s new Chief Executive Officer. Andy who has been in the role on an Interim basis following the passing of Mick Murphy officially starts in his role on 1st November 2023.

 

Andy joined the Association in April 2021 following previous roles at Staffordshire FA and The English Schools’ FA and brings with him over 20 years of experience in the game. Dave Simpson, Chairman of Shropshire FA added “We are pleased to appoint Andy as our new Chief Executive, he came through a rigorous recruitment process and showed he has the vision, knowledge and experience to lead Shropshire FA permanently. Andy has demonstrated over the last 5 months that he has the attributes that the Board was looking for and he led the team during a very difficult period for the Association.”

 

On his appointment, Andy said “ I am very proud to be given the opportunity to be the Chief Executive

Officer of Shropshire FA, this is a County that has a great passion for football and there are still opportunities to grow and improve the game, whilst I also recognise there are some challenges that we face moving forward.”

 

One of Andy’s first tasks is to develop a new Strategy for Shropshire FA for the period of 2024-2028. As part of that process Shropshire FA will be holding a number of consultation events in the New Year, so watch out for further details.
