Facilities & Competitions Manager

  • To manage and co-ordinate efficiently and effectively the workforce to deliver the administrative services offered to Clubs, Leagues and their Volunteers.
  • To help develop and maintain the Business operating procedures and policies
  • To effectively deliver The FA National Game Strategy
  • To effectively Line Manage staff and to ensure appropriate FA Performance Management systems are in place and are adhered to.
  • To be a key member of the Senior Management Team and contribute effectively to the running of the Business.
  • To propose Operational changes to the CEO and Board as and when required to do so. 
  • To produce accurate and relevant management information to improve performance and inform decision-making of the Business.
  • To ensure consistent practices and procedures and for the successful delivery of the County Operations Plan.
  • To oversee the successful delivery of the FA County Cup Competitions.
  • To provide Monthly management reports to the CEO.


Facilities Lead including:

  • To support the formation of local football facility plans in local authority areas, identifying key priorities and site identification for facility improvement and investment
  • To be an active member of local steering groups overseeing the successful delivery of local football facility plans
  • To support the ‘pre-application’ process for projects identified for facility investment, and to support the formation of football development plans, business plans, programmes of use to ensure all projects can deliver and maximise football development returns.
  • Develop internal collaborative working and external partnerships with Local Authorities (supporting the development of Playing Pitch Strategies as necessary), Leagues, Clubs and other partners to optimise facility stock to meet the County FA needs (ensuring delivery of Business Plan and Operational Plan targets to increase 3G AGPs and improving natural turf pitches)
  • To lead on the protection and enhancement of football facilities across the CFA. 
  • To support the monitoring and evaluation of funded projects to ensure success and delivery against intended football outcomes

Darren Beech

Football Development Manager

  • Oversee and Develop programmes to sustain and grow the player/team base of mini-soccer, youth, 11 v 11, and small sided male and female teams. 
  • Oversee positive intervention to raise awareness and increase participation for women’s and girls, disability and under-represented groups.  
  • Analyse teams,  leagues and participation data available, to increase capacity  in gaps or potential growth areas in provision 
  • Develop and support Leagues in order to provide the most appropriate club competition structure within the County/area
  • Deliver a clubs services programme providing a range of training and support services
  • Oversee an introduction to football in schools to develop intra school football, deliver the skills coaching programme, Club Links programme and support Schools
  • Oversee and Deliver the FA  Charter Standard Programme including the administration of the annual health check
  • Implement the Charter Standard League Programme ensuring league development plans deliver against the NGS

Shropshire FA Football Development Officer (Disability)

  • To support and develop all areas of disability football and inclusion in accordance with the County FA Business and Disability Workforce Fund (DWF) plans and to support the achievement of all County FA targets - National Game Strategy and DWF.
  • Unite disability football through the strategic coordination of all disability football provision locally,
    ensuring provision is aligned and positively impacts the priority areas for disability football, thereby
    sustaining and growing participation levels at a local level.
  • Work to ensure that the County FA is inclusive and provides footballing opportunities for everyone

Referee Development Officer

  • Implement and deliver the Referees section of the County FA Operations Plan / National Game Strategy
  • Lead and develop effective recruitment and retentions strategies to decrease the number of referees leaving the game
  • Lead and develop a robust and inspiring development programme for all referee levels covering recruitment, retention and development of referees
  • To establish and lead a Referee Development Team to assist in the delivery of all referee development initiatives
  • Set targets to develop refereeing opportunities to diverse communities
  • Manage the online registration process for referee registration through the Whole Game System
  • Implement successful use of the Whole Game System for Match Officials reporting
  • Support and liaise with local Leagues in ensuring 100% coverage controlled by a qualified referee and is appropriate
  • Identify and put in place key initiatives aimed at improving the behaviour of all involved in football via The FA’s Respect Programme
  • Implement the National Referee Development Programme and develop a successful system of identifying talented referees

  •  To work with the CCD to establish and deliver a Portfolio of Coach Education courses to support the delivery of targets outlined in the National Game Strategy.To develop an effective business model for delivering a Coach Education programme.
  • Effective Relationship Management with key stakeholders. (The FA, Tutors, Clubs, leagues, Facilities etc|).
  • To develop a portfolio off CPD opportunities to support the Coach Licence scheme.

Designated Safeguarding Officer

My role is address poor behaviour and to raise standards in football within Shropshire, as identified in the National Game Strategy. I have a key responsibility to safeguard children and vulnerable adults in line with legislation and FA Policy and Procedures. I deal with, advise and monitor any Safeguarding  and Welfare issues across all levels of football within Shropshire and work closely with the League and Club Welfare Officers.
