Shropshire FA Development & Courses

Due to the impact of face-to-face delivery suffered during this pandemic FA Learning have had to re-evaluate the delivery of all FA courses with immediate effect.

Shropshire FA have taken the decision not to run any further coaching courses for the remainder of 2020.

During January & February 2021 FA Learning will be closed to all learners whilst they prepare for the transition to on-line learning.  We have been informed that from March 2021 FA Level 1/2 Coaching, FA Safeguarding, FA Emergency Aid (IFAIF), Goalkeeping Level 1/2, Welfare Officer Workshop, Referee course, Level 1/2 Futsal will all be available as online courses.

By the end of the 2021 season all new coaches must of completed the ‘New’ Playmaker (link below in course description), new online Level 1 along with the new online Emergency Aid (IFAIF) & Safeguarding Children.

The FA Playmaker – following on from previous announcements, we’re delighted to confirm that The FA Playmaker will be launched nationally w/c 3 August. You can enrol here. You’ll need to login with your FAN and password so ensure you have this handy.

The FA Playmaker is a new entry-level football course for volunteers in the grassroots game.  It is open to anyone 14+, it’s completely free, all online and requires no previous football experience or qualifications before signing up. It has been launched in consultation with the National Game Board to deliver the following strategic aims

Educate and engage people on the periphery of football such as parents of youth players and encourage volunteering

Provide an appropriate workforce for FA participation programmes so County FAs can better meet national game KPIs

Widen the diversity of our volunteer pool, support growth in women’s and girls’ football, and help better engage people from BAME and LSEG backgrounds

Completing the course will provide people with the knowledge and skills to help a ‘named coach’ in youth football teams and / or an ‘FA Lead Playmaker’ on FA participation programmes, with the delivery of football.

We run a variety of courses in a variety of formats –some weekend only, some mid-week, some a mix of the two etc. We ensure that we run the variety of formats and courses across the county throughout the year and attendance may require flexibility from each learner i.e. travel further afield within the county to get the dates best suited or be flexible on dates to attend at preferred venue. Whilst we try to provide as many options to our volunteers as possible we are restricted to how we deliver courses due to tutor and facility availability.
