Shropshire FA’s Girls Player Development Centre trials have been announced for 2015/16 season.

What is a Player Development Centre? 

A Player Development Centre (PDC) is a local County FA run centre for U11, U13 & U15 age groups.  Players gain access to the PDC through a trial process.  Having played school and club football, the PDC is the next step of The FA girls ‘England talent pathway.  Players can be nominated for trials by their teacher or grassroots coach when it is appropriate for the player’s development.  As part of the England Talent Pathway, we will be asking players to be nominated who are seen as talented within their school or club. 

What can players expect to receive at a Player Development Centre?

The PDC will provide extra training and support on top of your grassroots club.  Every player will continue to play for their local grassroots club, and receive one extra night of training and support from appropriately qualified coaches.  You will also be invited to play in friendly fixtures against other PDCs which will allow you to show your true potential in a match situation.  The PDC will provide you with extra support and bridge the gap between grassroots football and Centre of Excellence football

How long can a player stay at a Player Development Centre?

Selection is on a seasonal basis, and players can remain at a PDC for as long as they want subject to reselection at trials.  The coaches at the PDC will support players in their transition from PDC to Centres of Excellence football (COE) should it be appropriate for then.  If a player joins a COE, they are no longer required to attend a PDC.

Open trials will be held at Shrewsbury Sports Village, Sundorne Road, Shrewsbury SY1 4RQ on the following dates: (Please note the trials will be for 2 weeks)

• U11’s Trial – Tuesday 6th & 13th October 2015, 5.00pm –6.30pm
• U13’s Trial – Tuesday 6th & 13th October 2015, 6.30pm – 8.00pm
• U15’s Trial – Tuesday 6th & 13th October 2015, 8.00pm – 9.30pm

Please bring footwear appropriate for both grass and 3G FTP.

Where is the Player Development Centre located?

All training sessions are held the 3G synthetic surface at Shrewsbury Sports Village, Sundorne Road, Shrewsbury, SY1 4RQ.  The PDC will train on Tuesday evenings 6:15pm – 7.45pm starting in October 2015 running until April 2016.
