Shropshire FA's development team hosted their Futsal awards on Monday 14th July at the Lord Hill Hotel.
This event was very well attended by the junior teams, managers, coaches and parents with each winning team awarded a trophy and each individual youngster awarded a medal for their efforts. The junior competitions were all held at the Shrewsbury Sports Village during the months of May and June with all of the winners of their respective age groups going on to represent Shropshire at the National Junior Finals in Sheffield.
Shropshire sent a team in all 8 of the available age groups to Sheffield which was the most by any county in the country, each team impressed and performed well at the National Finals which included Roman Road under 16’s winning the Plate and Shrewsbury Town Ladies FC also winning the plate competition.
The evening was also attended by David Henson of the FA who is the Chairman of the Small Sided committee down at Soho Square. Dave is very passionate about his Futsal and has many visions about the role Futsal will play in the development of our technically gifted players of the future. Shropshire FA would like to thank Dave for his attendance.
A special award was also presented to Jamie James and Kevin Shingler, Kevin, unfortunately was unable to attend; both of these referees have officiated all county competitions, regional Futsal leagues and refereed together the National Women’s Semi Final in Sheffield. Shropshire FA would like to thank them for their continued hard work.
