Shropshire Football Development Team would like to congratulate Step into Sport’s Young leaders, Dominic Smith and Charlotte Proud of Madeley Sports for being Nominated to represent Shropshire at the FA’s National Young Leaders Camp in July.
Charlotte and Dominic have been part of the FA’s Step into Sports Programme and with this have achieved 150 hours of volunteer and training hours in local Community Club, Madeley Sports.
The FA’s Step into Sport programme aims to encourage and support young people 14 – 18 years old “to be the best leader, coach, referee or administrator they can be”’, enhancing the skills of those young people who are interested not only in playing the game but putting something back in to the game.
Charlotte Proud, Will Bowen and Dominic Smith from Madeley Sports was nominated to take part in the FA West Midlands Regional Young Leadership Camp at Walsall University. The event was attended by other young leaders from schools and clubs throughout the West Midlands Region. The events looked at the FA’s four key goals
Goal 1: Growth and Retention
Goal 2: Raising Standards
Goal 3: Better Players
Goal 4: Running the Game
Within these key goals the young leaders organised and ran activities based around Futsal (the new format of the small sided game), football development workshops, the FA skills programme and refereeing
Following the event, the organisers selected ten young leaders (a boy and girl from each county represented) to go forward to the National FA Young Leaders Camp in July. Dominic and Charlotte have been selected to represent Shropshire at this event in Nottingham.
Following the National event there will be four young leaders selected to work on the FA’s international placement scheme and they will have the opportunity to travel to Cape Town, South Africa and support and run coaching sessions for children in Africa. Along side this there will also be a chance to work at National, Regional and County football events within the UK, supporting the work of the FA development team.
