Shropshire FA organised and ran a football festival for girls in years 3 & 4 at primary school. The event was to support local clubs in the recruitment of U10’s players for next season as well as give girls their first experience in playing football in a fun and friendly environment.
In total, 7 schools attended the festival and all children were given information on how to join a club in their area. As well as that every child received a certificate and posters of England Women players to take back to their schools to promote.
In conjunction with the festival, Sean Dipple recently appointed referee’s Development Officer delivered a mini referees course to pupils at Sundorne School. The course involved pupils having a theory and a practical session. The practical session was linked in with the girls football festival which gave an invaluable experience to those pupils involved.
It is hoped that everyone involved had a great experience and will continue to support the development of Girls Football in Shropshire.
